Who else agrees that sub-zero weather is far from ideal for maintaining glowing skin? Whether you're from Canada, New York, Boston, or my home state, Minnesota, I am 99.9% sure you fight the same battle as me, year after year. Here in Minny, the brisk winds and freezing colds temps make it virtually impossible to keep your skin smooth and soft. Thankfully, it's mid-March which means we're one month closer to warmer weather. With Spring approaching and in efforts to drown out dry skin everywhere, we're coming to you with two super easy DIY face masks.

Both of these masks are made with all natural ingredients and take just minutes to prepare. I, personally, have fallen in love with sprinkling a dash of organic green tea into each mask I make. Green tea works wonders on the body. Not only does it purify skin, but this anti-oxidant rich tea also fights off fine lines and wrinkles. Sign me up, please!

Green Tea and Yogurt and Banana Facial Mask

This mask is made for refreshing and rejuvenating skin. By combining yogurt with banana, you will fight dry, crackly skin, and immediately feel moisturized!

  1. Boil green tea leaves and let them cool down to room temperature
  2. Mix a ½ ripe banana with 1 teaspoon of plain Greek yogurt
  3. Add 1-2 teaspoons of green tea to make a soft and smooth cream
  4. Apply mask to your entire face, leaving it on for 15 minutes
  5. Rinse off with cool water

Green Tea and Sugar and Yogurt Facial Mask

Jam-packed with sugar crystals, this mask exfoliates to help remove dead skin cells and makes your skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

  1. Boil green tea leaves and let them cool down to room temperature
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of plain Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon of all-natural sugar
  3. Add 1-2 teaspoons of green tea to make a deep-cleaning, detoxifying mask
  4. Apply mask to your entire face
  5. Gently scrub in small, circular motions
  6. Rinse off after 15 minutes with cool water

Blended to draw out impurities and exfoliate, both of these masks will leave you with a clean, refreshed, and healthy glow!

Undoubtedly, the beauty of homemade facial masks is that you can customize the ingredients to your particular skin type. If you have an allergy to bananas, alter the ingredients by mashing a peach or avocado instead. Either way, your skin will be getting an extra dose of vitamins and minerals, which will also help in reducing inflammation and balancing skin tone. Let the clarifying, detoxifying, and food-smearing facials begin!
